The Affordable Care Act has ushered in new challenges and opportunities for publicly funded family planning providers. Since the law first became implemented, the network has doubled down on its education and enrollment efforts and expanded access to care under the law to the ranks of the newly insured. Despite its role as an essential partner of the ACA, the provider network has persevered through years of budget cuts, a series of legislative attacks, patient volume and network changes, and new clinical standards. As health reform continues to take shape, NFPRHA remains focused on protecting access to high-quality family planning care and strengthening the family planning safety net and is committed to helping safety-net providers.
NFPRHA advocates on a range of issues related to family planning and sexual health and helps safety-net providers adapt to the new health care economy by disseminating best business practices on business operations and sustainability. Read NFPRHA's 2017 policy priorities.
