NFPRHA Commends New Federal Investment of $50 Million for Title X

WASHINGTON, DC -The National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association applauds the inclusion of $50 million in critical supplemental funding for the Title X program in “The American Rescue Plan,” which President Joe Biden signed into law today. The following is a statement from Clare Coleman, President & CEO of NFPRHA.

“NFPRHA is thankful legislation signed into law today by President Biden includes $50 million in supplemental funding for the Title X program, marking the first new federal investment for our nation’s family planning program in seven years. This funding will be instrumental in helping family planning providers deliver preventive health care in regions of the country that have gone without access to Title X-funded services under the Trump administration’s harmful Title X rule. Funding secured today will support health care providers as they restore family planning services in communities hard-hit by the rule and devastated by COVID, allowing them to focus on meeting the health needs of even more people at a time when our country continues to grapple with an unprecedented health crisis.

We are deeply grateful to our many champions on the Hill who worked to promote and protect this critical infusion of Title X funding in the budget reconciliation package, as it moved through the House and Senate.

While this funding gives the program a hugely needed boost, now is the time to make it right by rescinding the Title X rule and increasing the annual investments in Title X, a proven public health program that keeps people healthy and improves lives. On behalf of thousands of Title X provider organizations and millions of people in need, we strongly urge the Biden administration to act now and rebuild access to essential preventive health care for all.”
