Publication and Digital Outreach Associate

SUMMARY

Research, write, and coordinate activities and resources to support publications, and digital and communication outreach. Maintain and contribute to NFPRHA’s national reputation.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and write materials and publications that communicate NFPRHA’s mission and key priorities both online and offline.
  • Coordinate writing, editing and production of external communication, including for NFPRHA’s website and opinion pieces.
  • Coordinate distribution of NFPRHA publications.
  • Support content and logistics for communications events, including conference calls, webinars, trainings, and online activities in support of these events. 
  • Support press outreach activities (pitches, distribution of releases, advisories) for communications initiatives and designated strategic priorities.
  • Conduct news monitoring, including the generation of daily clips e-mail, and identifying opportunities for letters to the editor and op-eds as well as providing updates for staff on key issues in the news.
  • Design and coordinate social media activities, with technical inputs in the process, and monitor social media analytics.
  • Collaborate with NFPRHA staff on marketing, informational materials, and newsletters in print and electronic formats, email communication, social media, and NFPRHA’s website.
  • Maintain up-to-date press lists and other important contacts.
  • Work in coalition with other organizations’ communications staff. 
  • Arrange meeting and telephonic logistics requests.  Prepare and distribute materials for meetings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA in journalism, communications, or English preferred or equivalent experience
  • Two years, preferably in communications, public affairs or related field administrative or operations experience in support of small, high-quality nonprofit organization
  • Knowledge of health policy and association industry experience helpful

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite  and web/social media platforms including: Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Flicker.
  • Ability to work with multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
  • Ability and desire to work independently and comfortable working collaboratively in an active, team-oriented environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent proof reading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary and editing skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Good problem solving skills including identifying and recommending solutions
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Solid research skills
  • Ability to think of creative solutions to problems, comfortable trying new tactics or strategies.
  • Good sense of humor and willingness to pitch in where needed
  • Maintain confidentiality
