Funding Bill Provides No Relief for Family Planning Program

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congress released its second fiscal year (FY) 2024 minibus, which flat funds the Title X family planning program at $286.5 million. The following is a statement from Clare Coleman, President & CEO of the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association.

“We are dismayed that the bill released today fails to provide any additional funding for the Title X family planning program, marking the tenth straight year of flat funding for the program. At a time of continued crisis for reproductive health in this country, Congress has again failed to appropriately support the access to contraception and sexual health services made possible by the nation’s family planning program. By not meeting the actual need for care or even responding to inflationary pressures and the health care workforce shortage, Congress has forced publicly funded family planning providers to do more with less, and as a result they may need to reduce services and cut staffing. Congress needs to end this downward spiral and invest heavily in contraception and sexual health care services.”
