9th Circuit Restores Relief Blocking Administration’s Unlawful Title X Family Planning Program Rule

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals restored the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association’s (NFPRHA) preliminary injunction to block the US Department of Health and Human Services from dismantling Title X. The Ninth Circuit order grants a rehearing en banc of the US Department of Health and Human Services’ request for a stay pending appeal of injunctions granted by three different district courts. The following is a statement from Clare Coleman, President & CEO of NFPRHA:

“Today’s decision to restore our nationwide injunction means that, for now, patients all across the country can continue to receive high-quality family planning and sexual health care from the Title X providers they know and trust. Every day that the Title X rule is not in effect makes a world of difference for patients—many of whom rely on this critical public health program as their only source of health care.

“This is welcome relief for patients and providers alike, but the fight goes on. This administration will stop at nothing to pursue its ideological agenda at the expense of people’s health care. We are grateful for today’s decision but also remain intent in our efforts to fully protect the integrity and mission of the Title X program.”
