Funding Plan Fails Nation’s Family Planning Program

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the US House of Representatives approved a conference agreement for fiscal year (FY) 2020 funding that omits critical language blocking the administration’s Title X program rule and flat funds the Title X family planning program. The following is a statement from Clare Coleman, President & CEO of NFPRHA:

“Despite a strong effort by congressional champions, the House funding bill fails to protect family planning providers and their patients from the administration’s dangerous and unlawful Title X program rule. We’re already seeing the devastation of the rule take shape in communities across the country. It’s crystal clear that this administration and its allies will stop at nothing to undermine the proven public health success of the Title X program.

“We are also incredibly disappointed that, after seven years of stagnant funding, Congress is unable to secure additional resources to strengthen and rebuild the Title X family planning program that provides preventive health care to nearly four million people every year.”
