NFPRHA Petitions Full Ninth Circuit for Reconsideration of Order that Allowed Title X Rule to Take Effect

WASHINGTON, DC – The National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association (NFPRHA) filed a petition tonight for full Ninth Circuit reconsideration of an en banc panel’s July 11 order that has allowed the Title X rule to go into effect while the en banc panel rehears the stay of the preliminary injunction. The following is a statement from Clare Coleman, President & CEO of NFPRHA:

“Earlier this month, a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling allowed the unlawful Title X rule to go into effect, despite previous decisions by three district courts to block the rule. As part of NFPRHA’s fight to protect the Title X family planning program, with a nearly 50-year track record of public health success, we’re asking the full circuit court to give proper effect to its July 3 order that granted the rehearing. Doing so will protect the longstanding family planning provider network and its patients from suffering immediate and harmful consequences of the rule.”

NFPRHA is a membership organization representing publicly funded family planning providers and administrators nationwide. NFPRHA advances and elevates the importance of family planning in the nation’s health care system and promotes and supports the work of family planning providers and administrators, especially those in the safety net.
