Determining how to provide family planning services during the COVID-19 public health crisis continues to be challenging and specific to health centers’ local contexts. Many family planning providers have developed their own methodologies for ‘triaging’ visits to telehealth, curbside, in-person, or to be deferred until later. These approaches will continue to evolve as the crisis unfolds in different geographic areas. This special NFPRHA membership webinar will present one member organization’s initial and ongoing response to providing family planning services in the context of COVID-19.
From Maine Family Planning, Evelyn Kieltyka, Senior Vice President of Program Services, and Leah Coplon, Program Director, will share how their health centers have used a combination of expanded telehealth services, in-person clinic services, and deferred visits to serve family planning patients in Maine. They will also describe the ways in which Maine Family Planning’s approach is continuing to evolve in response to their communities’ experiences with COVID-19. Participants will leave with an example process for ‘triaging’ visits to different service modalities, as well as key considerations to incorporate into decision-making for their own organizations.
