Appeals Court Charts Dangerous Path for Title X Family Planning Program

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, an 11-member en banc panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued an order that denies the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health’s (NFPRHA) motion to restore the preliminary injunction blocking the Title X rule from being implemented while the rehearing of the stay of the preliminary injunction occurs before the en banc panel. The following is a statement from Clare Coleman, President & CEO of NFPRHA:

“We are deeply disturbed by today’s court order, which puts the nation’s family planning program at perilous risk. Millions of patients rely on the Title X program for confidential, compassionate, and patient-driven health care from providers they trust. The Trump administration’s policy attacks the integrity and core values of this longstanding public health program. The rule limits services and slants information that people receive when they seek care in a Title X-funded setting, and it disregards the negative health consequences of doing so.

“The patients who rely on Title X-funded services and the providers who have dedicated their careers to ensuring this care deserve better than this, and NFPRHA will keep fighting to protect access to care from providers that patients can trust.”
