Position Title: Research Associate
Supervisor: Policy Director
Status: Exempt

SUMMARY

Coordinate activities and resources to support policy research projects, as well as provide routine administrative support to the research team, consultants, and NFPRHA members. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides accurate and timely support to the Confidential & Covered research project team.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and disseminates relevant health policy literature.
  • Creates, maintains and uses comprehensive and up-to-date survey lists, databases, electronic and paper files including templates, correspondence, emails, memorandums, reports, and forms in compliance with NFPRHA’s procedures and style guide.
  • Schedules and coordinates logistics for meetings, trainings, teleconferences, and webinars.
  • Researches and reserves off-site focus group or site visit space.
  • Attends project meetings, prepares copies of meeting documents, prepares minutes, and initiates and monitors post-meeting follow-up.
  • Collect and input survey data from NFPRHA members cataloging public and private insurance barriers to family planning and sexual health services.
  • Executes broad office support functions including daily faxing, photocopying, telephone messages, express and regular mail, shipping, invoices, purchase orders, supply ordering, equipment purchasing, scheduling conference calls, making travel arrangements.
  • Participates actively in NFPRHA brainstorming and planning meetings and contributes creative ideas for NFPRHA activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS degree
  • Two years administrative or operations experience in support of small, high quality non-profit organizations, health policy research activities, and/or academia. 

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Interest in developing substantive knowledge of the Affordable Care Act, the health care safety net, and the Title X network
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and online survey tools such as SurveyMonkey
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data entry
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative research skills, SPSS experience preferred
  • Ability to work with multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
  • Ability and desire to work independently and comfortable working collaboratively in an active, team-oriented environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including proofreading, grammar, spelling, vocabulary and editing skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to think of creative solutions to problems, comfortable trying new tactics or strategies
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Good sense of humor and willingness to pitch in where needed
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge and use of generally accepted business and social practices and protocols and the ability to interact with business, government, member, and community leaders as well as members of the general public
  • Ability and desire to work with people of diverse backgrounds
