  • Coding for Reproductive Health Services with ICD-10
    This training will examine the coding of common reproductive health encounters with a focus on how to apply the newly implemented ICD-10 code set. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss the role that administrators and clinicians can play in supporting good coding and documentation habits. This training is appropriate for program administrators and clinicians. Made possible with the support of Bayer.

  • Insurance Processes Boot Camp
    This introductory training will provide an overview of the language of public and commercial insurance processes, including Medicaid fee for service, managed care, and commercial insurance. Participants will learn how insurance works, how insurance might change in the next few years, and key terms. This training is appropriate for anyone who needs an introduction to insurance.

  • Strengthening Your Revenue Cycle Processes
    This training will provide participants with an assessment strategy and tool to identify strengths and weaknesses in their revenue cycle processes and key performance indicators to measure their success. Representatives from FamCare, Inc., an independent family planning program in New Jersey, will highlight their experience using these tools and the development of a work plan for improvement. Medicaid Peer-to-Peer Meeting: Challenges and Sustainability in 2016
Throughout 2016, Medicaid Peer-to-Peer will focus on a combination of emerging challenges and strategies for improving provider sustainability amidst the ever-changing Medicaid landscape. Lunch will be served. 

Emerging Topics: 1332 Waivers 
This session will examine the emerging issue of 1332 waivers authorized by the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which a number of states are looking at as mechanisms to modify how they implement some of the ACA’s requirements. The session will explore what is known about these new waivers, the uncertainties, and what meeting participants should be looking for in their own states.

Discussion: Medicaid Billing
Apply what you have learned to this discussion of Medicaid billing challenges and solutions. This session will also feature a presentation on a new analysis by the Guttmacher Institute comparing Title X providers’ costs and reimbursement under Medicaid and private plans.

State Attacks: What to Expect in 2016
As many statehouses across the country convene in early January, NFPRHA anticipates that state legislatures will mirror Congress’ open hostility to the family planning network. This panel will highlight the types of state attacks family planning providers can expect, and strategies for defending the network. Specifically, panelists will delve into tiering and provider exclusions, Medicaid changes including attempts to waive Freedom of Choice, and provisions targeting family planning provider revenue.

  • Confidential & Covered:  Recommendations and Findings
    This session is intended for attendees interested in learning about how Title X-funded health centers are screening for insurance, navigating confidentiality, and implementing practices to increase billing. Recommendations for changing or updating health care delivery practices to increase billing based on data collected from Confidential & Covered’s 2015 survey of the Title X field with be presented in this session.

  • Internal Opportunities to Increase Patient Numbers
    This session will highlight successful strategies for increasing patient numbers through maximizing opportunities around marketing, scheduling, and data from NFPRHA members, The Center for Health and Prevention in San Luis Obispo,  and the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control. The role of outreach and enrollment in increasing patient numbers will also be discussed.

  • Issues in Coverage and Reimbursement
    Under the Affordable Care Act, all new insurance plans must cover one form of contraception in each of the 18 FDA-approved method contraceptive categories, without cost-sharing. Despite this coverage, patients are still subjected to cost-sharing and other barriers when attempting to access their contraceptive method of choice. This session will describe findings from the National Women’s Law Center “CoverHer” Hotline, which was established to identify and address consumer and provider concerns about accessing contraceptive coverage. Panelists will also discuss specific coverage barriers to patients accessing over-the-counter contraceptives.

  • Network Adequacy
    This session will explore state and federal policies on improving network adequacy both in the commercial insurance and Medicaid managed care contexts. Presenters will discuss the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ recently completed model legislation, how existing network adequacy standards are faring in states, and ongoing policy fights.

Defending the Texas Safety Net
The Texas family planning safety net has endured the most aggressive attempt by a state legislature to systematically dismantle a network. This panel will examine the series of legislative and executive actions that limited Texas women’s ability to access abortion and family planning services, the effect of those laws on Texas’ network diversity, and the subsequent impact on women’s health. The panel will also explore the tremendous efforts to organize and rebuild in the face of these assaults.

The Business of Family Planning
To thrive in the evolving health care environment, publicly funded family planning centers must install efficient and effective business operations in order to survive. The session will examine the challenges of obtaining the information needed and the underlying efficiency issues that can surface as a result of examining the cost of services. The Guttmacher Institute will also join the presentation to discuss results of a new project comparing Title X providers’ costs and reimbursement from third-party payers.
